Leading with Godly Confidence and Humility

You don’t have to be a boss, a manager, or a leader in your industry to lead with Godly Confidence and Humility.

I used to think, well God, I am just a regular old run-of-the-mill type of gal. I went through college, like most people and now, I am a wife and mom to two teenagers. I can’t possibly start all over again to walk more boldly.

I am who I am.

In the last few sentences, I performed one task that could ultimately inhibit my progression forward. I hope you caught it as I did!

What did I do? I labeled it.

I promptly slapped my motherhood and wife characterization stickers on my forehead. Claiming these two titles as a justification for how people perceive me to be and how I am supposed to act. I also threw in my unwillingness to change.

My second downfall.

Change is hard

Growth is hard. Some see it as uncomfortable and unnecessary, while others see it as an opportunity. Back to that well-known question. Is your glass half full or half empty?

When we define ourselves by our past achievements and assume our labels as complete, we limit who God says we are. Growing into the person we have become gives us permission to display the labels we have earned as defined by earthy success.

These are some of my restrictive labels. However, God sees us as MUCH more. No level of achievement can define us through God’s eyes. Through Him we are…

• His masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)
• His children (1 John 3:1-2)
• His treasures (Deuteronomy 7:6)
• His fruit bearers (John 15:16)
• His hands and feet (1 Corinthians 12:27)
• His ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20)

We have been chosen by God. Our worth and value have been sealed by Him. Knowing this, we should be able to confidently place one foot in front of the other. But sometimes, even with these reminders, we move more slowly. Why is that?

We are more than qualified

Satan’s number one job is to pull us away from our purpose in Christ. He too knows our giftings, our value and worth to God’s kingdom. With our ability to grow heavenly citizenships, the enemy will continuously plot out a logistical agenda to keep us away from serving our Lord. His greatest trick is to deceive us.

Many of his tactics are sneaky and subtle. Half the time we don’t realize it is from the enemy and because of this, we brush them off. A simple mishap to pull us off course. Every distraction from Satan is a goal he created to limit us.

Each new day, we should intentionally practice our faith by seeking the face of God. Moving for God changes the way we look at our days and the success we desire. Waking up to spend time with God prepares us for the battle we are up against.

Through the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, who made us righteous, deems us qualified. We were born into this world to make a difference. 

God will walk us through a process to teach us an important lesson.

Being a Leader for Christ

Godly confidence and humility begin first within our hearts. Let me ask you this question. If you could lead one person to Christ, would you go through all the troubles of today?

Jesus came to give our lives a new direction; freedom from sin, hope for the future, and His word to carry us through good times and bad. We may often feel like it is easier to walk away, shutting the door behind us.

Rough day at work, trouble with the kids, family drama – it is easier to fill our hearts with the things we enjoy instead of facing the disorganization of our day.

Think back -the person who led you to Christ was not speaking to you by accident. They were there because of a scheduled Godly appointment. Jesus came to save us just as we are to walk with Godly Confidence and Humility.

We can’t model confidence if we are stuck in a place weighted by our control or when we allow apathy to rule in our hearts. God wants us to lead. In fact, He called us to it. Jesus speaks to us through Mark 1:17; “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”

When we become a follower of Christ, we are to turn away from our self-centeredness. Trusting Him first will open our hearts to more opportunities.

God will never lead us down a straightforward path.

1. He teaches us through our difficulties to lean on Him.
2. He wants us to grow so we may have a deeper relationship with our heavenly father.
3. And to do all this He builds our character to persevere through difficulties.

Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Luke 9:23

Being a disciple means putting aside our selfish desires, along with the ability to control all things, to have a life centered around a relationship with God. The world reminds us daily that this won’t be a once-a-week occurrence, but one we must decide to do the moment we awake.

God, Will Use You

We are all spheres of influence. Confidence is not about what talents you have to offer, but what God has done for you. Through every trial He has led you through, you have gained knowledge and wisdom. He prepared you for this very moment in time.

Leading with confidence is not established through our success, but it is gained by the compassion we give to others.

Let’s Pray Together

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the responsibilities and assignments you have led me to. I praise you for calling me yours. Please forgive me for doubting my strengths and leaning on my perception of success. Help me to live without fear or hesitation, knowing you have called me to serve. I pray that those you place in my path would see your great love through your light that lives within me.

In your precious name, we pray, Jesus–Amen!
