Bible Scriptures For Courage
(Scroll to the bottom for Scriptures on Courage)
In the pitch black and coolness of an open room, you take a step forward. Suddenly a light flickers on and you hear the movement of a conveyor belt. Only you don’t see the movement, you feel only a slight breeze and the loudness of the belt clicking against each passing pin. A familiar noise, that of a rollercoaster.
Something is coming, but what?
All at once, you see them. Looking up, you watch. The first one passes by. Brightly painted in the color of red. It is rectangular with a brass lion door knocker. “Is that a door?” A few seconds pass and you see another one. A distinct color of green with a rounded arch. This one has 4 little windows and no knocker. You think; “Yep, I definitely just saw two doors pass overhead.”
The doors keep passing — all different architectural shapes, sizes, and colors. Their uniqueness defined even further by their details — etching, hardware, windows, knobs, etc.
The movement of the doors comes to an abrupt stop. As you look ahead, you notice that a door stands in front of you. You take a big deep breath. Magnificent!
A bright royal blue door, with two raised rectangular panels at the bottom. The details are spectacular. A large rectangular window at the top covered in white wrought iron molded in the shape of flowing vines. A silver door handle that feels almost too perfect in your hand.
Yes, this door is uniquely designed for you.
While admiring the workmanship of this door, without warning, the door opens up a crack. You feel a gravitational pull to walk through this door. A door so well-made, every detail accounted for. Almost as if the creator had you in mind.
You standstill. You feel frozen in time. Assumptions pass in your thoughts. “Do I enter?” “Do I walk away?” “What happens if I walk away or if I go through this door?”
To be brave & adventurous…
Courage today doesn’t look much different from this imagery. Daily we walk a path of discovery into the unknown. Leaving us questioning our decisions and feeling uneasy about what is yet to come.
Every single footstep, even the small ones, can lead to “bigger” and “better” accomplishments. And while walking that path, you may come across a new pathway. Where will it lead? You question: “Should I open this door?” “What will happen if I step through?” “Will it benefit me? ”
Facing the future is ________ (fill in the blank).
Now realize this… No matter how many times we analyze the pros and cons of each circumstance, the outcome is in God’s hands. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
God’s expectations will not ALWAYS be the ones you set for yourself.
As a Christ-follower, the truth is God knows what He wants for us and is in control of all of our plans. (Jeremiah 1:5). God is holding the blueprints and He is only allowing us to see just a small portion of His mighty plans.
If you are willing to be used by God, you must be willing to step forward in faith.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” – Psalms 28:7
Sitting on the sidelines, watching the world pass by you may be comfortable, but it isn’t fulfilling. When God moves, His plans may seem like a disruption or a surprise, but know, that He already knows the plan set before you.
Stories about the past that give hope for the future.
Most often we have to look back to see God’s handy work in our lives. And as you look back, you then realize that there is no need to worry or doubt. His timing, His movements, perfect in every way.
God will never lead you through a door He did not open. He is not just your heavenly Father, but your greatest teacher. Each experience will come with a lesson learned. Building our character for Christ.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good.” – Romans 8:28
We may look to others to help us build up our confidence level or to help us feel as if the decisions we make are correct. Our greatest ally is in Christ alone.
We must always pray that our goals will align with God’s will.
Let’s Pray Together
Dear Heavenly Father,
We know that the world we live in is not perfect, but through you we trust in all things. We thank you for always providing for us. Your plans are greater than we know. As we walk this journey here on earth, we pray that our expectations align with yours. That we can be willing to step out in Faith, fully trusting in you. Help us to be a light to others who don’t fully know you yet. May we be your fishers of men.
In all this, we ask, in your precious name – Amen
